Class Overview
Dates: July 21 – Sept 22
Term 3 is split into two 3-week blocks with final pub meet up and collection on the 29th September. Sign up for one or both blocks!
Class schedule
Block 1 : Soft slab surface design and building
July 21, 28 and 4th August.
Learn to decorate soft clay slabs using coloured slips and mark-making tools. In the second week, you will construct a larger vase or two smaller mugs from your slab. The work will be finished in a clear glaze. Finally, the group will gather to discuss outcomes after firing (3 weeks).
Block 2 : Soft Slabbing with Sgraffito Decoration
8, 15, 22 September.
In this fun and relaxed workshop, you’ll create a plate and mug from a soft slab of clay and decorate it with a sgraffito pattern using underglaze. The plate could become a piece of art to hang on the wall with the addition of a hook or a functional plate to be used alongside your decorated cup. We’ll guide you through shaping your vessels.
