Hand-Built Christmas Tree Workshop 🎄

Create your own unique ceramic Christmas trees to bring a little handmade magic to your home this festive season.

In this fun, Christmas-themed pottery workshop, you’ll learn the simple technique of slab building to create one or two hand-built Christmas tree decorations, depending on the size of your pieces. 

Once finished and fired, your trees make lovely Christmas table decorations or can be displayed on a mantelpiece or shelf. They look beautiful during the day and can be lit from behind with an LED tea light in the evening (tea light not included).

No previous pottery experience is needed — just come along, get creative and give it a go! Bring a friend, family member or come along and meet some other clay enthusiasts.

Workshop Details

Date: Sunday 29 November 2026

Session times:

Morning: 9.30am–12.00pm
Afternoon: 1.30pm–4.00pm

If you finish your work early, you are welcome to leave before the end of the session.

Tutor: Nikki

Cost: $70 per person
This includes tutor time, all clay and materials, glazing and two kiln firings.

Age: 14+

Maximum: 10 students per workshop

Finished pieces: Your trees will need to dry fully before they can be fired. Once they have been glazed and through their final firing, they will be ready for collection from CAC — usually within 3 weeks of the workshop.

What to Bring

• A cloth apron, if you have one
• A closed drink bottle if you think you’ll get thirsty
• Your creativity and willingness to give it a go!

Full directions, including a map and instructions for finding the studio, will be emailed to you approximately one week before your workshop.

Please note: The images shown are examples of previous students’ work. Your finished trees will be completely unique, and your tutor may guide you in a different creative direction depending on the clay and glazes available on the day.
